E8X/E9X Rear Upper Control Arm Ball-Joint Conversion Shims
Fits:Ā
AllĀ E8X & E9X Non-M's (with M3 upper camber and/or guide arms)
E82 1M's & E9X M3's
Benefits:
-Provides consistent geometry (stability)
-Free pivoting spherical bearing (no suspension binding)
Note:Ā A bearing mounted upper camber arm will not increase NVH.
Material:Ā
-304 Stainless Steel
Note: Ball joints not included (see below).
Recommendations:
-Preferred - LEMFĆRDER No. 3067901
-Alternative - MEYLE No. 314710005
Note:Ā These same ball joints can be installed at either end of the pressed metal lower Guide/trailing arm (+ x4) to eliminate additional rubber.Ā
If you're looking to maximise the handling onĀ your BMW, these shims allows for motorsport style spherical mounted arms at both ends but with OEM parts & longevity. If you don't need the adjustability, these shims provide the necessary taper to fit ball joints to the upright end of the upper control arms in place ofĀ the the factory rubber eliminating unwanted bushing flex, providing more consistent camber geometry when cornering and reduced bump steer.
Sold in pairs (2 pieces).Ā 2 sets are required for both camber & guide arms.
Note: When installing the ball joints into the arms, press them till centered within the control arms, not asymetric like the original rubber bushings. Geometry is defined by the centreline of pivot points (in this case the thickness of the shim & width of the ball within the joint). asymmetric installation will have no influence kinematics, only aesthetic and increase the probability of the ball joint slipping from the arms grip.Ā
